This article talks about sexual selection from the view of an ornithologist, also known as a biologist focused on the study of birds. The author calls into question some of the original theories put forth by Darwin that beauty is what attracts females to males, but more focused on other features. I think I can use this to put my paper more framed on the idea of beauty is not the solution for societies problems, but a focus should be put on more directly beneficial methods or something in which less interpretation needed.
As for podcasts I am using:
Tehya- This one definitely stood out a little more from the rest. Her aunt’s idea of beauty is not only within nature is much attuned to mine. Words such as natural, raw, harshness, and wild, resonate at least a little with me.
Liam- This goes along with what I was saying before with Teyha’s aunt. What Liam’s mom talked about came from deep within, and could tell that this meant a lot to her. There is a deep connection to this moment as she even admits she uses it as a beacon of light to keep her motivation high. Also, this shows a contrast to what Tehya’s aunt was talking about. So this can be used to strengthen my opinion that everyone has their own individual views on what they find beautiful.
I agree with your statements on beauty and how it should be framed and enclosed more. I also like the article you chose because I feel like beauty in the perspective of females being attracted to men and how they get attracted is never really talked about. Another podcast I think you could use to talk about is Julia’s only because I liked her interviewees perspective on beauty.
Wow, I never made the correlation between writing an essay on beauty and correlating it with Darwin’s study of birds. I have to say, that is a very smart and clever idea. I also used Tehya’s podcast because I felt that she had some really good points in her interview. I agree with the word choice. That I think is what stood out to me the most. I also like the idea that you are using Liam’s podcast. I feel like a lot of people are using Tehya’s and Liam’s podcasts.
