Learning Outcome 4

I do not know if my peer reviewing abilities are really up to snuff. Throughout the course, I did not feel any dramatic improvement in this area. My only real improvements are likely from practicing the skill in general. No strategy that was put forward really “clicked” for me in a reviewing way. The process that I did use is as follows. Through reading in a way that was like a speech, I was able to pinpoint many areas in which something needed to be fixed. More global sided errors such as continuity errors, choppy flows, and underfed claims or evidence could be caught in this fashion. More local sided errors were caught through the use of 3rd party programs such as Grammarly or through the process of reading aloud. One thing I did struggle with was being able to explain what action the peer should take immediately afterward. My writing ability is not strong enough to be able to adjust what others are attempting to say, only the fact that it should be changed to something else. This is likely in part to my arguments and views on the topics within the class are different than those who I was editing for.
